What We're

All About

Here are the details

Woman's hand holding a tape measure

Handmade Tampa Bay highlights handmade artisans and vendor markets in the Tampa Bay area to promote the success of small businesses and introductions between makers, markets, and locals.

We support makers and markets of all sizes and experience levels because, many times, the smaller events, the ones that are so important to newer makers gaining market experience, tend to be overlooked and go unnoticed.

We foster a community that supports shopping small, handmade, and local. A community that applauds the efforts of artisans and the markets that give them the opportunity to grow their businesses.

We’re all in on Tampa Bay and its handmade community, and we think you should be too.

Why We Do What We Do

Local makers deserve a break.

Local makers do it all. That’s great, but there’s only so much time in the day to be your own photographer, web developer, production team, SEO expert, social media strategist, … you get it. How about having access to something that makes at least some of your business tasks easier?

Tampa Bay is full of really cool stuff.

We all already know that, but we want to shout it from the rooftops – or the top of the Sykes building? Either way, Tampa Bay locals and visitors alike deserve to have quick and easy access to finding our markets and makers.

When we work together, everyone wins.

Imagine this: locals and tourists are flocking to local markets to shop from Tampa Bay makers, local brick-and-mortar boutiques are carrying goods from local makers, and local makers are finding Tampa Bay markets for vending opportunities. We’re bridging all of those gaps to make these winning situations happen.

Who’s in charge of this whole thing anyway?

Taylor Dunworth (she/her)

As a maker myself, putting myself on the path to a successful small business proved difficult – I was wearing all of the hats in my business, which limited my time to gain the necessary experience to promote my business, and I didn’t have the financial resources to hire someone to do those things for me. Getting my product directly in front of potential buyers was key for my financial success as the online shopping space becomes more and more crowded every day, and since I couldn’t afford a physical storefront in a high-traffic area of St. Petersburg, I knew markets were my best option. When I started researching Tampa Bay markets, I ran into my other constraint – time. There wasn’t one, centralized directory that showed me what options were available to me as a maker. That meant dedicating the time I didn’t necessarily have to researching markets through online scouring and attending markets as a shopper to see which were the right fits for me.

Now as a more established Tampa Bay maker and a market participant, I want to remove those barriers for other makers. By providing a comprehensive directory of markets in Tampa Bay, makers can now skip the puzzle-piece process of searching for market opportunities in countless places and instead find everything they need to know in one place.

And for the markets – you’re not forgotten here! Just as the makers are searching for you, I know you’re searching for quality vendors too. With a directory of confirmed handmade, local businesses, your search and curation of quality market participants are streamlined.
